Jerry,
Those are both great examples...sure you can take the day off, but how much will that set you back on making progress?

I've had several people use the saying "if it was easy, everybody would be doing it and there wouldn't be an opportunity".

Hi Shawn
I'm not sure I really fell for this one but it is pervasive, persuasive and I have seen it applied to coaching, network marketing, franchises and those signs at intersections. It varies but goes something like this:

"It's a great career where you can work from home, never have to make cold calls, use a proven system and make loads of money"

There may be some truth in these things but in my experience you have to work very hard to get to that state. In other words you can work from home, make money and get all your business by referral but you need to work up to that by establishing a network, a sales plan, get known and so on. None of that you can do sitting in an office at home - at least I haven't found that to be so!

I think this relates to your point that people decide the work involved simply isn't worth the potential rewards.

Another myth: flexibility. That can be true too and is one of the best things about running a business but don't forget the pressure when you are fully responsible for the business. Not always easy just to take off and play golf!
