I had a great discussion this morning with an entrepreneur that’s still in the start-up phase for her new business.  We talked about what her approach is, how she’s going to be different than the competition and ultimately where she wants to go with her business.

She’s in a very conservative / old-fashioned industry that isn’t doing much with websites so one way she’s looking to stand out is to incorporate social media into her marketing mix…and she’s also planning on starting a blog…maybe.

A lot of what we talked about was whether a blog made sense, what she might blog about, how to make it work, etc.

I’ve talked to several business owners in the last few weeks that are struggling because they can’t get a line of credit from their bank (or their line of credit’s been cut off).  Their wallet is empty and it’s causing all sorts of problems in terms of making payroll, investing in future growth and getting a good night’s sleep.

Unfortunately it’s not just anecdotal data – information from the SBA shows that lending is falling sharply.  How sharply?  There’s 30% fewer loans now than 2008 and 55% fewer than were backed in 2007.  That’s a big drop-off!

However there is some good news – in June the SBA announced upped the ante on their stimulus lending program, America’’s Recovery Capital Loan program (ARC).

What if there were a fundamental but simple shift that you could make that would inspire you, allow you to do more than you ever thought possible and drive you to long term success?  There is such a thing, but you might think that it sounds too basic to really make a difference.

Have you ever heard anyone say:

• “I’ll never be able to figure out all of that technology stuff, I’m just not wired that way.”
• “That guy is just a natural when it comes to selling!”  
• “My kids are really smart – I tell them that all the time.”
