    I had a crazy week this past week, a lot of late nights and not enough downtime…but it’s my fault due to poor planning.  It was the cumulative pile-up of too many things going on at once, all of them important, but not necessarily urgent (other than I had piled up too many commitments).

    I forgot the lesson that not only is it alright to say ‘No’, it’s something I should consciously be doing all the time and doing more of!

    Are you the king of your jungle?  Master of your own domain (oh wait…that’s something completely different)!  ;-)

    What I’m getting at is do you feel like you’re in full control of your time and what you do with it?  Are you productive?

    If you’re like most people, that answer is a resounding NO!  You’re buried in emails, crushed by voicemails, swamped with action items and you hate to even think about the things that are buried somewhere on your desk.

    What you really need is to get more done…be more productive…or is it?

    One of the common themes I’m getting from business owners is that they are doing too much.  A major reason for their stress is that they’ve got too many balls in the air and they are constantly juggling priorities, commitments to themselves and other people and things they’d like to be doing.

    As the business owner, you ultimately have responsibility for the overall success of your business, so it makes sense that you’ve got a lot of stuff going on, but the reality is that model isn’t sustainable in the long run and it may very well be causing you a lot of problems in the short run as well.
