Dear Shawn,

"Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing."-Helen Keller
As the year winds down, I was browsing some new sites recommended to me and spent some time on Tom Peters site.  (You may recognize him as the Co-author of In Search of Excellence and a lot of other stuff) and was inspired by his 41 Quotes that he did as a year end musing - you can find it under his Resources, Free Stuff.

"Do one thing every day that scares you."-Eleanor Roosevelt

My goal is to help business owners be more successful by enhancing their businesses.  What I do isn't right for everyone, but if you know of someone that is looking for answers, have them give me a call.

We'll talk.  ;-)

If you know of anyone that might be interested in that sort of thing or would just enjoy my newsletter, please forward this to them.

"To live is the rarest thing in the world.  Most people exist, that is all." -Oscar Wilde

Now what can I do to help you out?  Seriously, Let me know.

Have a great day and a great New Year!!

Shawn

8 Keys to Business Success
(or how to be outstanding in your field!) - Photo by Hamed Saber   Trading time for money?

I've been thinking a lot recently about a workshop that I'm pulling together that will help small business owners build on their success.  As you know, running a small business is really complicated.
There are a lot of hats involved.  Marketing, Sales, Finance, Leadership - and that's just the stuff you focus on in the morning!

How do you pull it together?  What do you focus on?  Here's a breakdown of the 8 key points that can propel you to success.

Do you know the 8 Keys to Success?

Are you thinking INSIDE the box?
Thinking in the box?Creativity isn't just about marketing.

In Japan, space is at a premium - even in the neighborhood grocery stores.  To help resolve the space issue, local farmers developed square watermelons, a creative solution to an unusual problem.

In the competive world of the small business owner, one of your best tools should be your ability to come up with creative solutions that satisfy your customer's needs.  Are you coming up with creative solutions that you can get paid for?

The 4-Hour Workweek is a must read!
Not because everyone could or should run out and attempt to implement the approach / lifestyle that Tim Ferriss does a great job describing as the solution for the 'New Rich'.

Not because there are a lot of practical tips that could be implemented in a stand alone fashion that could really increase your effectiveness and lead you to a better way of doing business.

No - everyone should read this book because it will challenge the way you look at life, your business/job and even your Purpose (whatever that may be).  You likely won't agree with everything but it will provoke conversations and thoughts that everyone should be having!

December George Winston - December

Every year, one of my holiday traditions is to find some time when I won't be interrupted and let this beautiful and haunting music wash over me.

I enjoy traditional holiday music, I enjoy fusion styles like Trans Siberian Orchestra and I like a lot of the jazz and lounge styles, but nothing comes close to the simple and pure sounds that you can find in December.
